Application of ATA-4051 High-Voltage Power Amplifier in the Design of Bionic Underwater Acoustic Receivers

Author:Aigtek Number:0 Date:2026-01-08

Experiment Name: Application of ATA-4051 Power Amplifier in the Design of a Biomimetic Underwater Acoustic Receiver

Objective:
To experimentally validate the reception sensitivity and directivity of the biomimetic underwater acoustic receiver.

Experiment Description:
An underwater acoustic measurement system was constructed to investigate the reception gain and directivity of the biomimetic underwater acoustic receiver.

Equipment:
Hydrophone, underwater acoustic transducer, power amplifier, data acquisition card, PC, etc.

Experimental Procedure:
The experimental measurement system mainly consists of a PC, data acquisition card, power amplifier, transducer, and hydrophone, as illustrated in Figure 1. The PC generates excitation pulse waveforms via the data acquisition card, which are amplified by the power amplifier and applied to the underwater acoustic transducer to radiate acoustic waves into the water. The hydrophone, embedded at the rear of the biomimetic acoustic receiver, measures the amplitude of the acoustic pressure in real time. The transducer is positioned 0.5 m away from the biomimetic acoustic receiver to measure its frequency response and reception gain. The transducer is moved around the biomimetic acoustic receiver to generate acoustic waves from different incident angles, and the reception directivity pattern of the biomimetic acoustic receiver is measured.

Experimental Setup of the Biomimetic Acoustic Receiver

Figure 1: Experimental Setup of the Biomimetic Acoustic Receiver

Experimental Results:
The experimental results align closely with the simulation results. The biomimetic acoustic receiver provides an average reception gain of approximately 3.9 dB for the hydrophone in the frequency range of 15 to 90 kHz, with the maximum reception gain (7.3 dB) observed at 22 kHz. The results demonstrate that the biomimetic acoustic receiver effectively enhances broadband underwater acoustic reception (Figure 2).

Additionally, while the hydrophone inherently exhibits omnidirectional reception, the biomimetic acoustic receiver enables it to achieve significant directional reception. The 3 dB beamwidths for the left and right ears are 42° and 47° at 16 kHz, and 32° and 30° at 32 kHz, respectively (Figure 3).
