Name of experimentapplication of power amplifier in the influence of electric field frequency on the temperature domain and electro-optical properties of driving blue-phase liquid crystal

Research directionresearch on electro-optical properties

Experimental equipmentchemicals, arbitrary function generator, ATA-4051 power amplifier, precision impedance analyzer, etc.

Experimental purposeblue phase (BP) has attracted extensive attention due to its unique 3D self-assembly structure and excellent electro-optical properties, and has a broad application prospect in the field of fast light modulator or tunable photonic crystal.

Experimental process

1Synthesis and characterization of dual-frequency liquid crystals

The crude product was purified by silica gel chromatography column, dichloromethane was selected as the eluent, and the final product was white powder after drying

2Preparation of liquid crystal box

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film is used as the spacer pad for the liquid crystal cell, eliminating the need to use a surface oriented layer. In the isotropic state, LC was filled into the liquid crystal cell by capillary action, and the tissue transmission was observed by applying electric fields of different frequencies.

3The generators of electric fields of different frequencies are arbitrary function generators and power amplifiers (ATA-4051).

The permittivity and frequency response of liquid crystal were measured by precision impedance analyzer, and the parallel and vertical permittivity were measured by vertical and parallel orientated liquid crystal cells respectively.
