Application of ATA-2041 High Voltage Amplifier in Ultrasonic Microneedle Array System Modules
Experiment Name: Ultrasonic Microneedle Array System Module Design
Experimental Objective:
Based on the clinical need for rapid transdermal drug delivery of topical medications, this study aims to research and design an ultrasonic microneedle array system for fast transdermal administration. Through an analysis of the requirements for clinical ultrasonic microneedle array systems, this paper proposes a modular design for the system.
Test Equipment:
ATA-2041 high-voltage amplifier, signal generator, vacuum pump, stepper motor, microneedle injection pump, etc.
Experimental Process:
Figure 1: Schematic Diagram of the Ultrasonic Microneedle Array System
Figure 1 shows the schematic diagram of the constructed ultrasonic microneedle array system. The system includes an ultrasonic microneedle array module, a power supply module, a dosing module, an adsorption module, and a displacement module. The adsorption module consists of a clamping mechanism and a vacuum pump, which ensures continuous and tight contact between the ultrasonic microneedle array module and the skin. The power supply module includes a signal generator and a power amplifier, providing a sinusoidal voltage that matches the requirements of the ultrasonic microneedle array module. The dosing module includes a micro-injection pump, offering stable and precise control of the drug solution. The displacement module includes a stepper motor control box and an electric slider, enabling accurate control of the penetration depth of the hollow microneedles in the ultrasonic microneedle array module.
Figure 2: Diagram of the Transdermal Drug Delivery System with the Ultrasonic Microneedle Array System
To meet clinical requirements, the ultrasonic microneedle array system must stably and continuously output ultrasonic signals with adjustable frequency and intensity. Therefore, the signal generator needs to produce sinusoidal signals with tunable frequency and amplitude. To drive the ultrasonic microneedle array module, the sinusoidal signal output by the signal generator must be amplified. The ATA-2041 high-voltage amplifier from Xi'an Aigtek Electronics was ultimately selected for this purpose. The ATA-2041 is an ideal single-channel high-voltage amplifier capable of amplifying AC and DC signals. It delivers a maximum output of 400 Vp-p (±200 Vp) high voltage, suitable for driving high-voltage loads. The voltage gain can be digitally adjusted, and frequently used settings can be saved with one click, providing convenient and straightforward operation. It is compatible with mainstream signal generators for signal amplification.
Test Results:
A modular design was implemented for the ultrasonic microneedle array system. The working method and principle of transdermal drug delivery using the ultrasonic microneedle array system were analyzed: hollow microneedles penetrate the stratum corneum, creating micron-scale injection channels between the epidermal and dermal layers. Simultaneously, as the front matching layer of the ultrasonic transducer, the microneedles generate ultrasonic waves in the deeper layers of the skin, such as the epidermis and dermis, inducing more intense ultrasonic cavitation effects in these deeper layers and thereby enhancing transdermal drug delivery efficiency.
