Application of ATA-2082 high voltage amplifier driving piezoelectric ceramics test

Because PZT4 piezoelectric ceramic has the characteristics of low price, stable piezoelectric characteristics, it has a wide range of applications in the field of high power, especially in the field of strong field, with the increase of the device driving voltage, the device will produce heat, which leads to the decline of device performance, it is particularly important to explore the temperature rise of PZT4 piezoelectric ceramic in the strong field. The heating mechanism of PZT4 piezoelectric ceramics under strong electric field is explored by applying enhanced electric field to PZT4 piezoelectric ceramics vibrator and measuring its heating condition. It is particularly important to explore the heating condition of PZT4 piezoelectric ceramics for high-power devices.

Purpose of experiment:explore the application of piezoelectric ceramics in the field of high power, explore the influence of temperature change of piezoelectric ceramics on material characteristics under the condition of high power, so as to explore the appropriate driving method, reduce the influence of temperature rise of piezoelectric ceramics on device characteristics, this has a crucial role in the application of high-power piezoelectric ceramic devices

Test equipment:oscilloscope, signal generator, ATA-2082 high voltage amplifier, computer (processing data), temperature monitor (monitoring temperature changes), DSP720(monitoring current)

Experimental process:

1. Place the experimental instruments in an appropriate position, connect the experimental instruments and turn them on after checking.

2. Place the PZT4 ceramic piezoelectric vibrator to be tested in the fixture. 

3. Provide an excitation signal (sine wave) to the high voltage amplifier through the signal generator, adjust the amplification factor of the high voltage amplifier, and apply the voltage with a certain amplitude to the piezoelectric oscillator for driving.

4. Use temperature monitor to monitor the temperature under the frequency and voltage amplitude.

5. Change the voltage amplitude to repeat the experiment and record the data. 

6. Processing recorded data, arrange the instrument after test.

According to the temperature change of PZT4 piezoelectric ceramic oscillator tested in the experiment, the data were sorted out and the graph was drawn, and the temperature rise curve was sorted out. The diagram above shows the current changes monitored. The following figure shows the temperature rise of PZT4 piezoelectric vibrator. With the increase of input power, the temperature rise of PZT4 piezoelectric vibrator appears obvious change.
